Swimming pool construction costs vary depending on the size of pool you want installed, the material used, the complexity of design and the area you live in. Here are some general tips to help you cut on construction cost.
The contract you sign with your builder can be the most important step in building a swimming pool. It should provide specific information about the pool you are going to have built.
Make sure the dealer has a CSP Certified Service Professional on staff. The National Spa & Pool Institute trains, tests and retests pool service technicians before certifying them as service professionals and designating them as CSP Certified Service Professionals.
Ask the pool builder for a list of customer references. Contact those people and ask them how they felt about the entire pool building process, before and after the sale.

Always compare prices and services of several contractors before you begin.
Get all your bids in writing, and then compare them. Make sure the bid specifies the materials to be used, including quantity, brand, size, color, etc. Don't forget to include the clean-up costs.
The lowest bid is not always the best. All warranties offered by the contractor for labor and materials should be in writing as well. Also, request the written warranties from all equipment manufacturers.
Ask your contractor for the latest products, and if they could be cost-effective for the future.
Additional features such as tiling, waterfalls, etc will cost extra for the contractor to provide. Ask about the costs of these extra features you require when asking for a quote.
When choosing a pool heater or lighting, make sure it works efficiently. Split your lighting systems on larger pools to reduce unnecessary lighting and costs.
You can use a cover on your swimming pool to minimize evaporation and reduce heating costs.
Install a solar powered heating system.
Install solar lights around your pool.
Save energy and time by selecting a larger filter versus a standard filter size. A larger filter reduces backpressure buildup, which helps your pump. You also do not have to clean your filter as often, saving you valuable time.

Some scents are tied to certain memories, and if those memories were good or bad, will probably have a huge influence on whether the scent is liked or not. Many people have fond memories of a lilac bush in grandma's yard. The list goes on and on. You may want to ask yourself what scents you typically tie to good memories, those could be a good place to start.
There are categories of scents that are commonly known to have certain affects on people's moods. These are listed below:
1. Romantic scents: jasmine, patchouli, freesia, gardenia, rose, sandalwood, cinnamon.
2. Energizers: tangerine, eucalyptus, mint, lemon, bergamot, ginger.

How To Measure For Window Treatments Like a Pro

When measuring for custom window treatments be sure to always use a steel tape measure, never use rulers, yardsticks or cloth tapes.
? Always measure to the nearest eighth of an inch, never round up or down to the next whole inch.
? A common mistake is to reverse the width and height when measuring a window. The industry standard is width X height, so always put the width first and the height last. Example given: 36 ¼ X 59 ½, 36 ¼ being the width and 59 ½ being the length.
? Do not take your own deductions, the factory will take it's own deductions for a proper fit. Measure the window opening for an inside mount if the treatment is being mounted inside the window opening. If it is an outside mount, make sure you have added for hardware and any over hang you may want.
When measuring your windows, first decide what type of a mount you want to do. 'Inside' means that you will be installing the treatment inside the window opening. 'Outside' means that you will be installing the treatment outside the window opening. It usually looks better to install the treatment on the inside of the window, however, if your window is out of square, you may want to consider an outside mount to hide the windows imperfections. If you are mounting outside, make sure you have added the proper amount for hardware and over hang. If you are mounting inside, make sure you have enough room to mount the treatment.
If you will be installing horizontal blinds or shades as an inside mount, measure the width in 3 places, top, middle and bottom. Mark down the narrowest width. Then measure the height in 3 different places, left, middle and right. Mark down the longest height. This will assure proper fit of your blind or shade. For an outside mount, measure exactly where you want the blind or shade to fit. Measure the window plus over-hang. For inside mount verticals measure across the top of the window for the width, and take the shortest measurement for the height. Do not add or deduct anything, order the exact size of the window.
For outside mount, measure window and add for over-hang and hardware. Windows with no inside dimension will need an outside mount. As a general rule you will measure the size of the window then add how much overhang you want. If the window is 62 inches wide, and you want the blind to extend 3 inches past on each side, you will need to order it 68 inches wide. If the window is 50 inches in height, and you want the blind to be the same length, your height will be 50 inches. If you want over-hang, add the proper amount of over-hang. If you want the blind to extend 3 inches beyond the height of the window, order the blind 53 inches in height.
For outside mounts you will also have to add for the height of the hardware. This is especially important for outside mount vertical blinds. For the width measure trim to trim (if no trim, measure from casing to casing) then add for how much over-hang you want. For the height measure from the floor to the top of the trim or casing, then add 2 inches for the mounting hardware.
You will only add to the size for outside mount blinds NOT inside mount. Outside Mount applications (in most cases):
? Sliding glass doors, Anderson-style windows, and French doors.
? Shutters are generally easier to install as outside mounts.
? Remember the golden rule "measure twice, cut once".
? Once your order is in production, it cannot be stopped.
? This is a custom made item and cannot be returned, so please take the time to measure your windows properly.

Vintage Enamelware Takes Us Back

Enamelware is a trip down memory lane. White jugs with blue trim and laundry tubs with red trim all bring us back to a simpler time. It's a part of the farmhouse country look.
What: Vintage items made of enamelware include ladles, coffeepots, jugs, strainers, jelly moulds, measuring jugs, bread tins, sauce pans, laundry tubs, chamber pots, garbage cans, canisters and trays. There is also a large supply of reproductions of these items available. Look for reproduction laundry tins, canisters and bread tins from major retailers.
History: The Egyptians and Chinese treated enamelling as decorative art. It was only during the 18th century that the Swiss and Germans began to use enamel to cover cooking utensils. By the middle of the 19th century, companies in the United States and Europe were producing enamelled kitchenware.
Process: Long before Teflon and other protective finishes, enamelling was the hot new thing. Prior to enamelling, food was cooked in non-porous, glazed stoneware that was better suited to baking. To cook foods at high temperature the cookware needed to be made of iron. Coating iron with a porcelain enamel created an easy to clean, sanitary and chemical resistant surface. This was a great technological advance.
Colours: A lot of enamelware is white and is often trimmed with blue, black or red. Some enamel can be found in red, yellow, blue, orange and brown. Part of the charm of these vintage collectibles is their bright colours.
Use: Enamelware is used today for display and the tins, tubs and trays are still used for their intended purposes of storage or serving.
Condition: Vintage enamelware is likely to have glaze or hairline cracks and chips. Not to worry though because collectors expect to find chips. Items without chips are harder to find.
Original Labels: Original paper labels still intact increase the value of enamelware, as they help verify authenticity.
Price: Starting at $5 for certain items and they are still plentiful.

Care: Hand wash enamelware in hot soapy water. Avoid very hot burners, abrasive pads and cleaners.

Tribal or nomadic rugs are produced by nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes whose lifestyles have traditionally revolved around breeding sheep and weaving. The rugs produced today are similiar to rugs produced centuries ago.
Nomadic tribes use rugs for more than floor coverings. They are also used as bags, seating and other home furnishings. These rugs are very fashionable today due to their bold colors and primitive designs.
Here are some of the more popular styles of tribal carpets:

3. Lori - Lori rugs typically have bright and lively colors. These carpets often have traditional floral patterns, but geometric ones are also seen. 3. Qashqui - The Qashqai rugs have very warm and magical designs. Typical colors consist of terra cotta, taupe, and navy blue. Most of the rugs produced by the Qashgai nomads are marketed inside the ancient city of Shiraz.

Decorating your child's room should be fun and exciting for all involved. The most important thing to remember when planning or decorating your child's room is to keep the decor age appropriate. You wouldn't want to decorate your 3 year old daughter's room in the same style as your 13 year old daughter's room. That doesn't mean you have to start decorating all over every few years. What it means is that you should strive to create a room that will grow with your little girl /little boy but is age appropriate. Some helpful tips follow.
Get a feel for what colors your child likes. If they are fairly young show them a box of crayons and let them pick out their favorite colors. Use those colors as inspiration for the child's room decor. The older child or children can easily tell you what colors they prefer.
Don't force your style or color likes and dislikes on your children. Despite their young age they are developing their personality's and their rooms are an extension of it. (Of course if they insist on all black walls and Marilyn Manson posters, it's reasonable to say No). The lesson here is to set limits but also to give your child room to create their special place in the home.
Use your imagination (ask your child for input) when painting your child's room. The wall treatments can range from applying a calming and soothing neutral wall color to creating fantastic murals that bring your child's dreams to life. Decoupage is another form of decorative finishes that you can use to create a truly unique and magical child's room.
Furniture themes for your child's room can be: whimsical with butterflies and bees, elegant a la French country style, romantic like a princess inspired theme complete with a half crown above the bed, heroic like a firefighter inspired theme for a boy's room with a fire engine truck for a bunkbed, a charming rustic lodge style complete with log cabin headboard and so many others! You can buy many of these themed furniture pieces or you can create some of them yourself.
